I updated my TT1 with the new menu and I was trying to program my own itinerary. I use to zoom in and select my own RT's that i wanted. Can some tell me or direct me in the right direction on how to make your own itineray.

Thanks

When making an itinerary, don't worry about the start point. Start placing waypoints using the 'Point on map' function. Zoom in really close to be sure that you place the curser on the road, and in the correct lane. Use a pointy object like a stylus for precision. Your finger will be too thick.

Waypoints will be added to the list. Make sure that only the the last one is marked as a Destination (checkered flag). You do this by highlighting it and choosing this option.

You can save your itinerary, give it a name, and call it up whenever you want to use it.

Testing your itinerary can be tricky. This is because you must have a satellite link. But the unit wants to start the route from your present position. (I believe that you can do a simulation with Home, where you can set your start point where ever you want.)

If you don't like the routing, you may have to add more waypoints. Don't worry, you can move the points up and down on the list.

So do your experimenting by creating a route from you home position.

Hope this helps.

46jimbo ... Thanks for your reply. What are the steps I need to do to start an itinerary. Are there any instruction on how to get started... Thanks again.

'Itinerary planning' - 'Options' - 'New Itinerary' - 'Add' - 'Point on map' (or whichever of these options you wish)

I am assuming that you have a One 3rd Edition and that you have successfully created a custom menu to give you the 'Itinerary planning' option.

When you set (2) points using the itinerary function does it give you miles between those points? I have been wondering about this, I will be getting my LE for Christmas and want to use it with our RV for traveling and the itinerary function was a big seller for me..

Thanks,

Jim

No. However, you could do a 'Prepare route', using one waypoint as your start and the next one as your destination. (They show up on the map as little flags, so it's easy to see them.) When the unit calculates this route, you will see the distance.

Thanks for the answer.....so, then once you know point A to B is 300 miles you do that for every "leg" in the itinerary then just put all the "legs" together in the ininerary?

Unfortunately, that seems to be the only way to individually determine the length of each individual waypoint to waypoint distance. There is no mathematical reason why they can't provide this data in the GPS itself, but they just didn't code it in.
