Hello I recently purchase a tom tom One 3rd addition and I have read several people say that this machine is capable of Itentary Planning but I don't see it on the menu and have no idea ho to acess it. Will someone please tell me if the information I have read is false or if the machine is capable of Itentary Planning and if it is how to acess it.Thanks I am really bad with direction and my tom tom keeps wanting to send me on county back roads so being able to plan my own route would be very helpful.

Putting the Itinerary function on the One Third Edition was only possible when the device first launched, it was more of a mistake that the code to use this function was left in the original software.

With newer units running newer maps it isn't possible to get this functionality back, to avoid the back roads though make sure you use Fastest Route rather than shortest route as this tends to avoid the dirt tracks - Mike

Oh ok so the 3rd addition was never really ment to have itinerary planning it was a hack and considering the fact I got my tom tom only yesterdy and its updated I no longer have that option.

Ok I understand now and I tried using fastest route but for some reason it still wants me to use the county roads I don't really understand why either. Thanks for all of you help

Tomtom is using IQroutes (actual historical time-of-day speeds) in it's higher end GO models, and in the new 2009 ONE and XL models. IQroutes gets much better calculation of "fastest route", and in my experience is as good as or better than the routes you know yourself.

The 700 series maps were reputed to cause a lot of less-optimal routing choices, which appears to be what is happening to you.

Other members have posted that the routing and time estimates on the older models have also been improved with the later 815 or later maps, even without IQ routes. If you post the specific route, and the expected routing, some of us on this board can see if a tomtom with an updated map takes you down the expected path.
