Is my TT One Toast?

I bought my TT last August. Have been using it ever since with minimum problems.

Today I went to the drug store. Got in the car and turned it on - just because. (I am always interested in what it ?thinks? is the fastest route.) Turned it off and went in to the store.

Got back in the car and turned it on and headed for my next stop. After a couple of miles I noticed it was still waiting for a satellite signal. It never found a signal again.

It has been sitting here by my chair for over an hour and still no signal. (I have always gotten a signal here in the past.)

I connected it to the computer and everything "appears" to work correctly. Unless someone has some idea I?m afraid it is trash time.

Thanks,
Bob

There are things to try before dumping it......

Have you tried a reset on the unit?
Also, use Explorer to delete everything in the ephem folder on the unit. Also, delete all sub-folders found here:

c:\documents and settings\yourname\my documents\TomTom\Home\Downloads\Complete\ephemeris\

That should force a new download of quickgpsfix file. that may help.

Thanks for the tips. Both suggestions did not correct the situation.

From what I can find it looks like the unit has a 1 year warranty. Since I have only had the unit for 3 months I have submitted an incident to TT Support and will wait for a reply before doing anything else.

I guess the next move is up to TT Support.

Couple of other things to try:

1) In HOME, go to Manage my ONE, and remove all QuickGPSfix files from the Tomtom and your computer
2) download a new quickgpsfix
3) on the Tomtom, go to preferences -> manage maps, then rechoose the map
