is my TT dead?

for the past couple of weeks, i have not had any signal on my tomtom. when i look at the gps status page, i get no bars and no dots (in the upper right-hand compass).

is my poor tomtom just dead? i've done everything i could think of (various pin resets, factory resets, moving everything off and formatting the SD card, etc.) if get absolutely NO signal is it completely kaput???

When you connect it to the computer, any indication it is recognized? Is there a green light when you plug into the computer or with a car charger?

hi dhn! yes it does get recognized. yes i can actually still download quickgpsfix and mapshare data. i just get nothing on the gps status page. when i used to have any troubles, i would still at least get something on the status page, albeit all grayed out. but now i get nothing...which indicates there is no communication going on with my TT and satellites?

any ideas?

Well, worth a shot....

Next, since the computer does recognize the unit, make a complete Explorer backup of the unit's contents, format the unit (not quickformat) and then restore the backup.

I know you've tried that, but give it one more shot...

If all your stuff is on a card, maybe try a different sd card.

If that doesn't help, then it does look as if it is a hardware problem.

at least GPS prices have come down...the xl 340s looks nice for $150.
