since upgrading home(2.3) every time i try to get gps fix, i get this message and then i can send an anonymous message to tomtom-
well I'd like to send them a not so anonymous message and tell them to
just fix it, or tell me how to do it!

A guess.........it's trying to save the downloaded file to folder that doesn't exist on your hard drive. Check the Home preferences menu for location of files/folders and see what's stipulated. The downloaded gps fixes are supposed to be saved (before installation on the unit) to a folder named 'ephemeris' (I think the spelling is) off the download folder. Check that out.
 
Have you tried closing Home completely i.e. remove the icon from the lower right corner of your computer screen?I had that same error and resolved it that way,if that doesn't work restart the computer too.
