TomTom Model(s)
Go Discover 6 inch.
I have a Tom Tom Go Discover 6". Everytime I plug it in the radio reception is terrible, crackly, so, as I use it on long journeys, it's when I need the radio on too. I can only use the one or the other. If I'm in an area with great reception it's not too bad, but it improves if I unplug the satnav. TomTom say they haven't ever had that problem reported to them. My old TomTom satnav was alright. It's the same in my husband's pickup, so not entirely my cars fault. It's a 2012 subaru.

I've never had any TomTom (and I've used more than a dozen dating back to 2007) that generated EMI.
Is your issue only on AM, or are you also getting it on FM?
What are you using for a power adapter?

I only use FM. Just radio 2, so its quite a strong reception. I have the Tomtom plugged in with a TomTom cigarette lighter type plug. I put an in line suppressor on my old mini cooper as the radio was crackly without it. But that was 30 years ago. The radio was alright with the last Tomtom. But it needed updating. I can't really move the Tomtom anywhere else.

If you run your TomTom when removed from the dock but held in the same location - it will run for a while on battery if properly charged - is the EMI still a problem, or does it need to be connected for the problem to occur?

Good point, I'll try that to see.
