Use Windows Explorer, create a folder in the root of the unit called screen. All lower case
Using Notepad, create a file within the screen folder called capture (all lower case, NO extension). Do not put anything in the file.
Once that is done, start unit until you are at the screen where this icon is showing. Press the top left corner of the screen and you will hear a shutter sound.
Use Explorer to look at the contents of the screen folder on the unit and you will find a weirdly named .bmp file in the screen folder. You can rename the file to a shorter name and please upload the .bmp file here in a post as an attachment so we can see what you are referring to.
(You can use Explorer to either delete the screen folder if you don't want any more screen captures or just rename capture to capturex to suspend the functionality).
If you follow dhn's steps, it will do a screen capture, so you can show us the exact icon.
I think that's the "mark location of map error" icon. Go to "map corrections" in the menu and see if it has a list of queued up locations for your to edit/correct.
I don't have your model, but somewhere in mapshare preferences, there should be some setting to disable the icon if you don't want it.
thank you dhn, I followed your instructions created folder "screen" then created file "capture" however when I tried to capture screen there was no clicking sound and no addition to screen file.
I did however follow mvl suggestions and there was indeed 24 marked locations within map correctiona these I have deleted and unticked theoption to show save facility, this has removed the icon.
Thank you both very much
Chris
