Incorrect time to destination

Hi,

I've just taken back an XL330 and replaced it with a GO730. Both units appear to have the same problem.

I am currently travelling in Canada, so i'm using kilometres. However the Tomtoms are working out the time to destination as if its "miles".

So for example Lloydminsters to Edmonton (a journey i did yesterday) is approx 250km, and a little over 2 hrs in time. The Tomtom is saying it'll take 4hrs to complete the journey.

Is this a known fault? Help!!!

Thanks,

Mike

I don't think it is a matter of miles vs. kilometers. If it was, it would calculate different times for the same trip based on the units you set it for. Try selecting a destination and see if the estimated times changes when you switch units of distance. If they are different - then you do have a problem, but I would be surprised if it does.

TomTom tends to overestimate times based on speed limits and assumptions of average traffic. Your unit may have a learn mode where it will adjust based on your driving times to destinations.

thanks for your reply.

the distance i drove yesterday is showing as 258km on google maps.

google says its going to take approx 2hr 45mins.

microsoft streets and trips is saying 2hrs 27mins.

tomtom said 3hrs 57mins.

actual journey time was a around 2hrs 20mins.

if you do the maths - 3hrs 57mins is about the right time for driving 250 miles at 70mph....?

thoughts?
