Okay I know I did a stupid thing. I messed up my TT one before I ever made a backup and now it is stuck. Can anyone help me find a backup for it. I plan on reformatting the harddrive on my TT and starting from scratch but I cant find a backup file anywhere? so 2 question
1. Can I find a backup file on the web?
2. if i can where?

Thanks any help would be awesome!

It would help if you could describe what exactly is wrong with the unit.

Is it frozen?

Have you tried a paperclip in the reset hole?

We need more info.

the TT when powered on shows a blinking red X. I do not have a paperclip hard reset on my TT it has a power button hard reset. When the Red X dissapears a hard drive image appears on lower left corner. I have gone through the TT support process but it leaves me high and dry because i have no backup.

Usually the red X indicates that the application program is messed up or missing.

Assuming you are on windows, can you see the device with windows explorer, and if so - open it and see if you see list of folders (like North America - which would be your map folder) and if yes, delete all the single files BUT NO FOLDERS.

If you have not done so, install TomTom Home, then connect your unit - it should then offer to download a new application under "Update my Device".

If your map folder only is there, you can still pretty much get back into business even with a format and clean install.

If your map folder is missing (or messed up) - call support and beg..
