HIya all.. I think I may have just messed up my mums tomtom.. It had been apparently been playing about and wouldn't turn on, or recongnise the PC or reset other than that I'm clueless. My sister had had a look then droppped it off to me and told me to follow the instructions on screen and format it as it was the only thing left to try, she had tried everything else.. So i did :( I then done a bit of reading myself it and it actually told you to do a backup first which I did not do so now I feel awfull.. Is there any way to download the software back on to the tomtom via their site or any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated before I'm left to ring up my mum and attempt to explain ?

Getting the application is no problem It's free and can be downloaded from TomTom's site. The problem is if you formatted the drive with no backup of the map folder that was there.

As dhn said the os is not the problem. You might call TT support, do not email, and plead your case. They might be in a giving mood and give you at least an out of date map version. I read somewhere on another forum that had happened but i do not recall the site.

Hi again. Well less than 15 minutes from posting the last message I rang said TomTom and got a really nice chap the other end who said " keep this quiet but, leave it with him and he'll have the tomtom working by the end of the day, he'll sort out the necessary updates and maps and sned them to me" now how is that for a service ? I was so impressed and as good as that was the fact I didn't have upmteen options to press to get to a real human and it took no more than a couple of minutes to get through.. Well done tomtom :D
