I need help to solve my problem.
I would like to know what goes where.
I use a Tomtom 720 bought 3 week ago in Quebec, Canada
For a reason I don?t know, my tomtom is doing all sorts of uninspected things.
I have installed an additional sd card since there was little room in the tomtom to put additional mp3
I have download the latest map name 2gb, and everything seem to be ok.
Yesterday I have received and update including voice and other thing I don?t know what, and install itself on my tomtom.
After installation I have notice that my Poi was not showing on the map anymore.
So from my computer I check the D drive which was the tomtom internal memory, and the E drive which was the sd card of the tomtom. And I notice that everything on the D drive has been copy on the E drive. And the Tomtom was reading the map on the internal memory of the tomtom, and that map had no additional POI,
With my finger cross, I rename that map to aaa North_America_2GB and restart the tomtom,
A screen came up asking me witch map I wanted to use and show me 2 identical map names. I have chosen one and by luck I think I feel on the right one. And all the poi was back on the map.
The question, is should everything be install twice on the unit (to the sd card and on the tomtom memory) ?
Where can I find out what goes where?
Plus it don?t recognize the poi file I have to put the poi in the North_American map to see it.

Be wise

I played with the file a little and mess up the whole thing.
I had to restore, and lucky me, the restore worked.
I think I must be wise and don?t touch anything.
Let it be the way it is, just don?t look.

You only need the map in one place. Personally I use a 4gb SD card and have all the TomTom program and maps only on the SD card. The only thing on the internal memory is the mp3 directory with my music files. This works great for updates since Home only looks in either the SD card or the internal memory. If you have the maps and program split between the two you have to run the update twice to check everything. With both on the SD card it only needs to check it. Also with 4GB I have plenty of room for updates and the larger 920 POI files.

I'm lost

What I don?t understand is why I end up this way. I did not do anything except insert a sd cars. Plus the backup on my C drive is now at a total 10.7 Gb. Totally crazy.
I have on my compute in the download map, the file, Am_rique_du_Nord, 5 time listed from 1 to 5 total of 5G.
Should there be 5file there.
What start up the size of an aspirin is now the size of a marshmallow bag.
Only been running 1 month. Can you imagine in 1 year. It will be the size of a pillow. LOL
Anything I touch so far look like my tomtom don like it at all.
What can I do let it go on like it is?
