I unplugged the usb port while my tomtom one 3rd version was doing an update. Now it shows up as a removable drive but I can access it via windows explorer. It says the file is corrupt. When I start the tomtom it does not ask if I want to connect to the computer anymore either. Is there a way to regain access to the tomtom or is is just trash now?

Try holding the power button down on the unit for about 15 seconds and try connecting again.

Better still turn the device upsidedown and use a pin/ stylus to prod the reset hole in the base of the device:

Thanks, Mike. I keep losing track of what models have dedicated reset holes and which don't. Should have remembered that this model, being an older one, would have the hole.

Thank you both for such quick responses. I really do appreciate it. Mike I have been trying the reset button to no avail. When I hold down the power button for 20 secs I get a screen that give me all kinds of information about the unit. One interesting start is the start up say sleep??? Either way I am still seeint the gps picture screen and it keep going to the download mode it seems as it has the picture showing the red x on the usb cable and then it goes away again. I tried exploring the G: drive which on my machine is the gps unit but it still says the file or directory is corrupted and unreadable error pops up. HMMM!! I think it is still trying to finish the download of the file and it cant complete because it is corrupt. I hope there may be a way to make the thing go to factory reset and start all over. I have tried using the reset pushed in an holding the power button on thinking I could get it to a hard restart but that did not work. I have placed a question to tech support at TomTom to see what they might say. I bet they will want me to send it in and that would cost more that the unit is worth. I hope not but not sure. Darn I really blew this.

I fixed it here is what I did

You guys are great here. Thank you so much for you knowledge. I just went to the cmd prompt and did a chkdsk /f on the GPS device . I can now connect to HOME and also use the GPS again. Thank you for this forum because of the other threads I had the courage to do this and it worked thank you again.
