How to stop instructions cutting off music playing through ipod?

HI, ive been looking for the answer to this but cant find it anywhere

i have my ipod linked with my tomtom510 and the into my stereo so i can play my music though my car speakers,

but

when my tomtom tells me directions it stops playing my music that is VERY annoying, i dont even use voice instructions i just look at the screen, but if i turn off sound it also turns off my music,

is there anyway of disabling the tomtom voice but not my music?

There is a "silent voice" in the voices forum. Maybe that is what it is for? I wondered about why you would want a silent voice. Maybe this is reason????

thank you VERY much, im in english lorry driver so when your driving in built up areas my music is cut off by tomtom instructions and it drives me mad !!!! many thanks
