How to get map update for my new TTs?

Hi all,

I'm getting two units of XXL-540T with North America maps. I would like to add the middle east map for the two units. The question is how do I get the map-update service for the new added map? Do I buy the map first then subscribe for the update service, or do I subscribe first then add the new map? Am not interested in updating the North America map, just the new map of Middle East I want to update.

Welcome to TTF.

Not sure what to tell you.........

First of all, why bother with the 'T' model (which stands for Traffic) considering the country where you are in. Though, if there is indeed traffic information for the country you are in, the unit should show it with its included antenna.

As for the subscription...........

Well, I'm not sure all maps come with a subscription series offered. The map you want (Middle East) is at the 850 level. Don't even know what country's customer support to suggest that you call for clarification.

But do this.........

Set up each unit with a separate email address/pw as an account using Home (TomTom's desktop software).

It doesn't even have to be a real email address, just in the proper format of (e-mail address removed).

I got the T model because of an offer from Amazon that made it less than the S model, so I got it although I know I won't be benefiting from the Traffic service

I'm going to order my map from the US site, but not sure how to get the map update service, or even if the middle east map is included in the service! How to know?

dhn, thanks for you efforts to help us, it's really appreciated.

I got this answer from Tomtom's site:

"The Map Update service is a service that keeps your existing map updated. If you do not already own the map you wish to keep updated (e.g. North America) then you will need to first purchase the map prior subscribing to the service."

And regarding the update service and the middle east map, guess it is not supported, as it's mentioned in the site that not all maps are supported (i.e. regional maps)!

So, I think I'll just purchase the ME map, twice, for each TT. With no update service!
