Hello guys! Glad to stumble upon this forum. I'm looking to buy a TomTom car GPS and I've looked at some reviews on cnet and amazon but didn't find an good answer for me. My budget is limited to $200 US, though.
I'm debating between an XL and a GO. Just want a plain and accurate GPS that does it's job well because I'm probably not going to need extra bells and whistles like: MP3player, bluetooth, FM transmitter or live services. The refurbished devices have a good price but updating the map to the latest one (2009/2010) drives the cost up to the one of a new device. I've also read that TomTom screen washes out in the sunlight. About the spoken street names I've read that they might confuse you because of the misspronounciation. Is it worth the price difference to chose a GO over a XL? Do you think that XL340 would be good choice for me? There are a lot of sales this time of year so that also plays it's part in the process. Your thoughts would be greatelly appreciated!![Smile :) :)](data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7)

PS: I would need both Canada and US maps.
What would be the very first steps after the purchase of a TomTom for preventing later headaches?
