Hi, i just got go920, and I cannot seem to find a way to use it just as a map indicating me where I am, it always wants to direct me to some destination, which is annoying, as it tells me all the time to turn here and there and go there and there. I do not want to tell me anything, just want it to warn me of red light cameras or speed cameras, and show me my speed and location. How can I do that? Thanks

(1) To stop the unit from navagating from point A to point B Tap your screen go over three screens click on clear route. You will then just have the map showing you where you are.

(2) For Speed :
You will need to go into change Preference and go to the third screen over and status bar preferences you can chose dfferent things like Speed to be shown in status bar.

For speed cameras I am not sure if there is a setting for that or not, perhaps someone else can answer that

I bet the unit you got was a refurbished one and there is still an embedded route in it.

From the main screen of the unit, arrow roght 2 screens. Is the 'Clear route' icon active or greyed out? If active, just select it and your problem should be solved.

If however, the icon is greyed out, then try this: Navigate to --> Recent Destination. Is that icon greyed out? If it's active, select it and in the next screen, click on 'delete' and a warning that all will be deleted. Do it.

If this isn't the problem.......the next thing to try is a pin reset for about 5 seconds. Does that resolve the issue?

If not, I'd suggest running the clear flash tool found here: http://us.support.tomtom.com/cgi-bin/tomtom_us.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=6211&Lid=4

Lastly, if all else fails, you may want to try the menu option (about page 8 of preferences) to restore to factory defaults. Pretty draconian in that the user (you) will have to re-enter manually all custom settings.

My hunch is that the 'clear route' will do the job......

Might also want to check "change preferences" the go through to the 5th screen "start up preferences".If its set to always "ask for a destination" this may mess you up even once the resets in the previous posts are done(I'm not sure exactly if those resets will change these settings)
