Hi
I have a GO5200 with an out-of-date email address.
I need to change it so that it can connect to my account because it tells me that it is not logged in.

I can't follow the 'Forgotten password' path as the email address no longer exists and I have tried for hours to input the correct password.

I have so many places stored on this unit that I am fearful that if I reset it they will be lost forever.

Any sensible ideas would be gratefully received

TIA

Hi
The only solution is to reset the device to factory defaults.

Your locations are lost if you cannot connect to Mydrive with your Tomtom account.

Bear with me.........

I need to ask -

Will the 'Factory Defaults' reset my existing email address on my device so that I can then enter my new/current email address and start over?
Would this actually then mean that it would be as if it was a 'new-out-of-the-box' type scenario, or does Factory Reset just remove the data I have inputted like the voices and places etc!!! without affecting the existing account email address?

I know it might be a stupid question !!
but I have already been able to change the email address on my original online Tomtom 'My Drive Connect' account on my laptop without a problem and I am wondering -

If I reset the Tomtom unit to Factory Defaults and then log in to the original account (with the new/changed email address) will I be able to somehow restore the information that is (for the moment) still on my device?

(In preparation for a disaster, I have created an Excell sheet and patiently logged all the places stored on the Tomtom, so at least I will have some record of each location should things go wrong).

Sorry to be a pain

A factory reset of the device erases all your personal data such as your email address, locations, and routes saved on the device.

Thank you very much for all your good advice and patience, I really appreciate it.
I have however by much 'Trial & Error' managed to get my device to log-in to my Tomtom account.

I guess it's not ideal because the email address on the device is still the original address (that no longer exists), but hey! at least my device is now logged-in!

I don't know if anyone else has come across this method but this is what I did.....

Step 1 - log in to your Tomtom online account and 'change the email address' to one that you can access (e.g - gmail or similar). This is very easy and doesn't need any authorisation.

Step 2 - Whilst still in the online Tomtom account - change the Password to one that you are familiar with.
This will need varification and an email will be sent to the new email address that you just changed.
Complete the password reset instructions (easy) on the email and return to your Tomtom account.

Step 3 - In your online Tomtom account - Now change the email address once again but back to the email address that's set on your Tomtom device.

Step 4 - On your Device - Now enter the New Password on your Device that you changed earlier whilst in your online account.

This for me allowed my device to log onto my Tomtom account straightaway and without any problems at all.

My 5200 Device still has the non-existant email address on it, but at least it's connecting to my online Account and appears to be fully functional once more.

Thanks again

Geoff

I'm surprised that you can log in to the traffic service and Mydrive with a different email address than your Tomtom account on your GO 5200?
