TomTom Model(s)
GO5200
I have downloaded a file with POIs en put it on my GO 5200. I used plan.tomtom.com for that. But how do I get the associated BMP-file on my GO 5200.
I tried it with TomTom Home but then i have no connection.
In My Drive Connect i found no solution.
And my computer don't see my TomTom when it is connected via USB.

It is not possible to load a BMP file on a GO 5200.

To identify your POIs on the map, you must select one of the 5 specific Tomtom icons.

First, as Willy notes, it is no longer possible to add a custom POI *.bmp file to TomTom devices. You're lucky that you have a 5200 where you can still add the *.ov2 file. Yours is one of the very last that supports custom POI at ALL. Hang on to it! If you ever get up the coast to Amsterdam, drop by and let them know what you think of that!

Starting with the generation of devices that the 5200 represents, you are provided with only 5 geometric icons that you can associate with one of your *.ov2 files. Once the *.ov2 file has been sent to your 5200, you need to select
Menu / Settings / Appearance / Show POI lists on map
then select the category and associate it with one of the available icons (blue square, green diamond, purple hex, violet triangle, yellow pent).

TomTom Home cannot be used with a GO 5200. The tool for these newer units is MyDrive Connect, but for the 5200, the only use that tool has is to change voices. Everything else related to updates or add/subtract of items on the device either can be (or must be, in the case of maps) managed directly on the device over WiFi.

Your computer does see your TomTom, but it's not identified as a USB device. Instead, you need to look under Device Manager's "Network adapters" heading. There, you will see a "Remote NDIS Compatible Device". That's your TomTom 5200.

Thanks Willy875 and Canderson.
I had already found the TomTom icons, but I thought that there was a possibility for other icons.
But TomTom says NO.
So I am ready with this item.
