How can I free 40mb?

Just purchased a 340-S with US, Canada and Mexico maps and was planning to buy a UK map too.

However, the UK map is just under 200mb and after deleting all but one computer and one recorded voice I only have 160mb free.

I suppose I could delete the computer voice but I did want the spoken street names feature. Anything else I can delete?

I could do that but it's not ideal, especially considering how long it takes to transfer the maps to the device.

I don't need Canada or Mexico but having searched on this forum it doesn't seem I can delete those maps.

Make sure you have a Windows Explorer backup of the device before doing any of the following:

Connect device to PC and use Windows Explorer to view files/ folders on the device, locate the folder for your North_America map, click it and hit delete.

Now you will have space to put the UK&ROI map on the device.

At the end of your trip to my side of the "pond" simply swap the maps over on the device using Windows Explorer.

Just because you have Canada and Mexico on your NA map doesn't mean you can remove these specific countries as a TomTom map is supplied as a single entity that canot be broken down in to sub-parts - Mike

Ok thanks I'll do that. I wish I could 'swap' my maps for just the USA only map though as I'll never drive in Canada or Mexico.

Try calling up Tomtom. Maybe you can sweet talk a rep into activating the USA-only map on your account. After all, you're trying to purchase UK/ROI map from Tomtom, seems like they should want to take your money.

Then you can backup your USA/Can/Mex to your hard drive and just download the USA one.
