TomTom Model(s)
720
Just connected 720 to my XP PC and did uodate and it came back with a new ver of home to be updated. Well I debated doing this but as I saw no adverse advice on the forum I said yes.NOW my Home 2 is gone, won't open, desktop shortcut went to no red symbol and was white and when I looked at properties and said find the program it came back and said no program.
The ver ( I think) was TomTom Home 2 .5 1 .36.
I did go into windows explorer and try to reinstall from a install icon but no avail, So do I need to regedit all Home stuff and then goto the disk or can I just goto the oldboy web site and download and update from there.
Thanks in advance

Geez.....not another one. (another poster is having the same problems after an update).

Try this: Do a Windows System Restore to a point prior to your update. See if that helps at all.

Thanks but I did that and I don't get the java error but I just get the blank page after the Home error message which does not get sent???? Even tried to use my CD and the Home TT site wanted me to download the latetest ver. Which I did and it still does not work. I even downloaded a newer ver of Java and that has not worked. I am Dead in the GPS world

I updated to this ver 2.5.1.36 and I now have NO Home 2 program on my PC. If any thing does show on the screen it has this error box [javascript application box: Referenceerrror: extend is not defined] when I close that the Home page comes up with a blank error box with the option of sending the error message to TT. That does not work/send. Then when you X out of that the Home page is either blank or the items which do show up don't work and the page is blank again. The desktop icon went from red to white and it says I have no HOME 2 installed. I have reinstalled 3 times and get the same results.
This above message is what I sent to TT support. No reply as yet.

Here is what I have done, thus far. I removed all Home, rebooted, turned off the firewall and a/v redownloaded the new Home from TT ver. # 2.5.1.36 and reinstalled that 3times over it self. Now each time I gained alttle more function on the Home program but still have the javascript application error on all the pages that may pop up,,,so when I close that the Home does not function and the home.exe is not usable as the desktop icon is white not red. When I try to use the dock and turn the 720 on the icon on the startup tray says device connected, the Home does not start, and the Home exe. is not found it wants me to browse for it and when found says it is not working reinstall.
I have searched all over for some explaination on the javascript error but what I found was mostly progaming stuff not totally related to this but not correctable either.

Grasping at straws.....

Go into Control Panel. Java. Try updating the aplet.

I did that yesterday , besides Java says this is NOT Java created done by programmers,, even turned off/on some Java stuff did nothing to help. Just reinstalled the Home again, funny thing it does not write over itself it creates a NEW copy so I have 4 copies of the Home and still have the javascript error

I guess you'll need to call Support. Report back on the resolution. Sorry I could not assist.

Thanks, way back you helped me with an SD card problem and am not sure I thanked you then
So a little chat if you don't mind, I am in a motorhome in Needles, Calif. and am surrounded by your fellow Canadians who are here for the weather,, which yesterday was about 75 degrees. Whats yours???

I just found a CD with the ver 7.221... on it and it is newer than the original CD that came with the 720.I may try and see if I can copy/paste the javascript files into one of my 4 copies, eh

this am I reinstalled Home and did it it safe mode and it seemed to work... then I rebooted and got the same error boxes again.. also if I close down Home it will not reopen and says exe. is not working

How are you trying to run Home, by the shortcut on the desktop? If so, try running the executable itself from the folder it was stored in.

If that doesn't work, you will have to call Support.

dhn,
Just did a windows explorer , program list check and am I supposed to have 2 folders folder # 1 says TT Home and then a second folder that says TT Home 2 and the program in it????

Home throws files all over the place. Check the dates of the exe files found in both places. Right click on the shortcut and select properties. Does that show you where the shortcut is starting in?

TT support answer...it worked

Yesterday I got my followup reply fromm TT support. Here is what they had me do:
