I have the latest XL and home 2. My question is when I try to set a computer voice in home it cannot find one but resets the device to a human one usually African.

Is there a way to overcome this? I tried reseting the language to English US(Computer voices)

I have resisted re installing so far but am a bit frustrated. I am using it in Australia and it has zip codes instead of post codes nd does not recognise Aussie Post Codes. I was able to find a set of POI's though.

Otherwise so far it works perfect. I even took out an extended 4 additional years warrenty.

Older versions of Home would cause the computer voice to be lost when the user ran the emulator (Operate My Unit) on Home. And, indeed, the Africaans voice would show as a default.

Recent Home versions haven't had the problem and my computer voice (Susan, US_Eng) has 'stuck' when I undocked the unit.

You dont state which version of HOME you are using. The most current one is 2.5.2.60

Open HOME and click on Help and see what version you are running and update if required.

Cheers

No joy, if I connect the XL to the computer it changes the voice to Africans.
No big del I chang it back on disconection but annoying having to do it.

Otherwise, for the trips I have made with it it has hit the mark everytime. One interesting point. I only have an option of a female computer voice and my Australian wife objects and would you believe makes fun of the pronunceation.

Some of our Aboriginal street names are hard for a local to pronounce but a computer really screws them up.

In Home, when you go to Voices-->Computer Voices, is there not an option to choose 'all' choices instead of 'default' to see what's offered?

I don't use the 'home' software to 'operate my go'. It always change the 'voice' settings'. I have to set it up off the cradle again. I did not bother finding out why or how to resolve it.

Anyway why would one need to do 'Operate my Go' under the home software?

Well, one reason is that it's easier to enter info using a full sized keyboard that the one on the unit.

I agree I use Google and tranfer an itinery via Tyre. Once I have the route installed I change the voice back in the device.

I will ask TT about it. Probably a simple mod. Don't you just love being told where to go :)
