Can someone tell me if TomTom Home 2 can be used with the Start 25?
I used to have a Start 25 but it was stolen and the computer interface was a nightmare web based system and I could never get it to work with IE8. I had to use Firefox.
I'm thinking of buying a new one and I've seen conflicting reports as to the current status on this count. The Home 2 download page says it can be used for 'Start' but in other areas of the same page it doesn't mention it.
Home 2 is so simple to operate and use.
Maybe the web based system is better now? I won't know until I buy one, and it's too late then!

Well, they continue to try to improve the user experience, for what that is worth.

You can save favourites, custom pois, images, non-computer voices, etc.

Getting the facts right on their website will do for starters!

Thanks for your help.

That was quick! What a pity. Has it had any major updates in the last year.?

Thanks anyway
Take a look at this:
http://www.tomtom.com/services/service.php?id=16

Yeah, it clearly says
For GO, XL, ONE, START, RIDER and NAVIGATOR 7 devices
But TomTom has a really annoying habit of re-using model names...

I'm guessing that webpage text was written when there was only the START and START 2 models. They did use TT Home.

But then the START 20 and 25 models came along and they use MyTomTom.
Later the large screen START 60 appeared, which uses MyTT as well

And later still, in the US only they came up with the START 40,45,50,55 models, which (bizarrely) went back to using Home.
That was a real surprise, as the established wisdom was that TomTom were forced to stop making models which connected via Home due to the losing their Copyright dispute with Microsoft.

This page gives the info on which UK models use which software.

and This one is the same for the US models.

I have now bought a Start 60 and not yet hooked it up to my PC.
My question is, do I have to de-register my old Start 25 (now stolen) or do I just go ahead with the new one. In which case can I use the email address I used for the 25 or do I have to use another address?

Use a new email address. Doesn't even have to be a real one, just in the proper format of somebody @ somewhere.com

Having just gone through the MyTomtom mill once again I found it just as daunting as ever. I've no idea if my registration was accepted and it says my maps are up to date which I find hard to believe on an 'out of the box' product. I've also signed up for the free lifetime maps, I think!! The website's been down this moring but it seems OK now??

it says my maps are up to date which I find hard to believe on an 'out of the box' product.

What maps are currently installed then? Check on Settings / Me and my Device / About my device.

If it says v900.xxxx for the map, then it is indeed up to date.

All sorted now thank you.
Website was down Saturday am for a while which confused everything.
All updates downloaded and accounted for.
