Hey there. Small town Canada here.Wingham,Ontario. Just joined up and am anxious to know if anyone can help me with my problems with my 910.
I just got back from a holiday and was looking forward to being guided by Tomtom. However,I can't get it to navigate from home to outside of Ontario. It just indicates that there was an error in planning and refuses to plan a route! It also started shutting off to the start-up screen and rebooting. Wha-a-a-at? I have all the proper maps. What am I doing wrong?

Do you have a "state" (province) specific map specified or the "North America" map? In your setup there is a map setting. Which map are you using?

I've had a map loaded that was specific to an area and it will not navigate outside of that area unless I switched to a different map.

I have North America Map 660.1215. Don't have province specific map (as far as I know) Am new to this game !

Well, your map is somewhat out of date (the current version is 7.20).

Anyway, when you choose your destination and it asks what method ('Fastest', 'shortest, etc.) which method are you selecting? I don't think there are toll roads near Wingham or London to worry about but what specifics are you putting in the unit when planning?

Use fastest route in most cases ! Would out of date map cause my rebooting problem?

It shouldn't but I have seen some posts referring to rebooting being a result of lack of free space on the unit when the unit is calculating....

You may want to bite the bullet and pay for an upgraded map, anyway.

Holly, this is not normal behaviour for the unit. I think you should contact TomTom customer service.

Just a couple of thoughts. When you go to 'Browse map', can you see all of Canada and the U.S.?

Did you ever make a backup? You could try reinstalling it.
