Last night I finally got my voice recognition working - ver 7.221, support_asr.dat, and all that. I was amazed at the accurracy; I spoke a half-dozen addresses into the machine with 100% accuracy! The first choice for every city and every street was the right one.

Pleased with myself (and this Forum) I put the GO in its docking cradle and did nothing else - changed nothing. This morning it has not recognized anything! It acts like the microphone is turned off.

Somebody please 'splain that one

I have found on my unit at least, that voice recognition only works with the map on the SD card. I used latest map guarantee to download a map that was too large for the internal memory, so I put that latest map on a 2g SD card. Voice rec only works if I choose to use the map on the card.

That happened to me last night too. I did a backup then a restore and it worked just fine. I noticed it when i was testing my blueooth capabilities and the person on the other end couldnt hear me. All my maps are on the HD.

I don't understand most of what's said on this Forum, but it cannot be the SD card (I don't have one installed) or the location of the map.

I did not change ANYTHING. Voice recognition was working perfectly last night. I put the unit in its docking station. I did not update anything or download anything. All day today (a half-dozen attempts) it has not recognized anything I've spoken - loud, soft, close, distant.

Last night the lips (upper right corner) were yellow and turned green when I spoke a city or street name. Today they're still yellow, but they never turn green when I speak.

After about 10 sec it apparently times out; the lips go away and the screen says "City/Street not recognized."

It's like the microphone is turned off or something.

Any ideas or suggestions would be welcomed.

did you check to see if the mic is turned off...otherwise, hit the reset underneath and see if that works...mine was acting kinda funny today and did a reset and no problems now

good luck

Like I said earlier. When it happened to me, it basically turned my mic off. I did a BACKUP AND RESTORE and it started working again with no issues. At least try that.

It must be magic!

The VR was working like a champ, then the next day it didn't "hear" anything I said all day. A couple of hours after my 12/13/07 post I undocked it from the cradle, got in the car, and the VR was working again, and flawlessly.

i can get the speech buttons in the navigation menu to come up but i cant get the lips to show. any ideas?

You MUST have three things: 1) North America Map 7.10 (not USA & Canada); 2) unit firmware 7.221 3) the asr_support.dat file in the ASR folder on the unit with only the value 1 in it).

are there supposed to be lips when im on the main map screen? or just when im navigating? i got the lips to show up when i need to navigate but i thought i would be able to do commands like "call" ect..
