Help please

Just bought a new tom tom and it wont power up.
i have used it in when car is on and commencted to the pc
the second i turn the car off or take it off the cradkei t shuts down???
It said to charge it for 2 hours on the cradle proir to using which i did
should i be able to use it on battrey only??
Seconly how can i use it as just as a blue tooth device to anser my phone with out it telling me how to navigate some where

What model do you have? There is a battery saving option for some units to shut down when external power lost? You may be experiencing that.

Well, that unit certainly has the option under preferences-->battery savings to shut down when external power lost.

Check your unit to see what setting you have.
