HELP! Not Starting!

I just got my TomTom XL 335 T as a late Christmas gift and I'm trying to use it for the first time but the thing will not start. I've charged it for more than the recommended 2 hours and it still just gets to a backlit black screen and some music plays but that's it. It never gets to any menus. I installed the HOME program and the computer and the program recognize the device but it never gets to any menus.

Does anyone know what's wrong with it? I've done the soft reset thing 3 or 4 times now and nothing. Thanks.

Use Explorer, not Home, to make a backup of the unit's contents. If not sure how, see here:

Then use Explorer to remove all the loose files in the root of the unit, NO folders or their contents.

Connect to Home and install the offered application.

Disconnect the unit PROPERLY from Home using the DEvice Disconnect icon on the bottom right.

No it's still not starting up. It's just the black screen. I don't know what's wrong with it. It acts like it's working, there's just no display or anything. Just the backlight.

If you made the Explorer backup, format the unit. Don't use quickformat. Restore the backup. If it still doesn't work, return it as faulty.
