Hi everyone ... I hate that my first post in this community is asking for help already but ... oh well .. here it goes.

I got a 920T for christmas today and its really nifty. I even got a chance to try it out in my car, got about two miles from my house and it turned it self off. I chalked it up to the battery not being charged and headed home. When I plugged it into my Macbook Pro to charge though I got the error "USB port is pulling too much power and has been deactivated." So I restarted the computer and plugged it in again and the charge light comes on, but no one is home. I hit the reset button and tried to turn it on, nothing. I let it sit plugged into my computer and my computer turned on for a majority of the day. The charge light has been on the entire time- but still nothing happens when I hit the power button. I try holding down the power button but nothing.

I also tried using the in-car charger and it didn't work either ....

Did I get a dead TomTom?

Thanks for anyone's help .... and merry christmas

Michael

Yup- the reset worked the first time, but then it shut it self off again. After that the next couple times I would try to turn it on the screen would come on just long enough for the TomTom logo to flash and the speaker to "pop" and then die again. Seems like the battery isn't charged/charging but when the USB is plugged into my computer the charge light is on. I'm trying to charge it through a regular AC outlet now but I assume it won't work still. And the online documentation says to try and reset it when its plugged in- but the reset button is on the bottom and all I have is the dock to charge it with ... so yeah ... I don't know ... I'm gonna call Tomtom first thing in the morning to try and see if they can coax it into working ... thanks to anyone if they have any more tips before then

Best wishes!

Michael

Any mini-USB cable will work with the TomTom. I've got a half dozen of these laying around from digital cameras, scanners and other GPS'es. Maybe you do also?

But it sounds like something is wrong with your unit - if it came from a local store see if they'll exchange it for a new one.
