Hi my name is Rob & in case you haven't figured by the name yes I am a Truck Driver.

I use my Sat Nav as a drivers aid Tom Tom 720 which has itinerary planning so this enables me to plan out my routes exactly thus keeping me on the right side of the law, I also have LowBridges.com - low bridge, truck stop and weight/width data for UK truckers' GPS systems installed on my device giving me advance warning of any Low obstructions around me.

I searched for a forum after a lengthy discussion with Tom Tom re my recent purchase of the Go100EU (separate story) on which I was told that they constantly keep an eye on the forums for advice & issues for future upgrades & designs.

I have been using my sat nav for the last 3 years & yeas like most have had arguments with it & it has also proved very useful at getting out of a sticky situation, I have some issues with certain aspects of the Tom Tom of which I shall be addressing having thoroughly exhausted my current device but having tested other sat navs I have concluded Tom Tom is by far the best but could be better.

A wee bit more about me: I am the club secretary of the T4 - T5 Club UK The UK's Premier FREE VW T4 - T5 Transporter Community which is a club dedicated to enthusiasts of the VW Transporter type 4, 5 & 5.5 also the future type 6. I am also a Cosworth fan & love F1 & gaming on the Ps3, Ive been driving professionally for the past 16yrs & love every minute of it.

Go-1000 doesn't support Itinerary Planning and currently the Third Party POI files like your low bridge height data cannot be imported to the device - TomTom have said that at some point next year they will add this capability for third party POI files but no firm time scale has been mentioned.

Whats the issue(s) with the 720 as to be honest we are in a far better position to prescribe a fix to any issue with that unit than the Go-1000 which has a hidden file system this hidden file system negates any "DIY" approach to providing a solution - Mike

Hi mike well firstly I never knew the new Tom Toms would have a hidden file system if i did I probabaly wouldnt have bought it, secondly I didnt even know any Tom Tom fORUMS exsisted as I stay away from forums due to bad experiences & thirdly my 720 is literally on its last legs & is getting slower every day, the screen is well overused & quite frankly could do with being replaced as its a pain trying to input waypoints at times due to the sratch's.

I was in the market for an upgrade & was gonna go go for the 750 until i got wind of the new 100'0s so thought I would wait but now im thinking what to do - see separate post in go 1000, 1005 section.
