Cheap crap windshield mount broke because TomTom didn't sink the metal screws into the plastic on my mount. Looking for something that can stand up to daily work use. Are there any good ones for the 3rd edition out there?

A more robust mount

Arkon offers a very robust windshield mount that would not fall apart, and wouldn't fall off the windshield.

However, they don't have the combo bundle listed on their site as a bundle as they offer several other windshield mount pedestals, all of which are very high quality.

My suggestion is the CM017-KST-2 Robust Base Windshield Mount bundled with the adapter plate for whatever TomTom device you have (you didn't mention this in your post).

Anyhow... here are the adapter plates that could be used with that Robust Base Windshield Suction Pedestal.

APTTEP - for TomTom ONE 130 and XL 330 (EasyPort devices)

APTTO - for TomTom ONE US Edition, 3rd Edition

APTTOXL - for TomTom ONE XL 1st Edition

APTTGO520 - for TomTom GO 520, 530, 720, 730, 920, 930

My suggestion is to order the windshield mount on any of those pages and indicate in the comments section that you want to have the CM017-KST-2 pedestal instead of the default CM014-KST-2 pedestal.

This one suggested by Hondo is excellent!!

Take a look here:

Get 5 percent off with promo code: thanku.

I got this one (and it's still 50% off by the way @ $10) and it works great! Has the lever to make sure you get good suction, 2 thumb screw levers to tighten the adjustment. AND- it's a bit longer so I can mount it to the windshield just to the right of my rear-view mirror, the roof of the car shades the display.

Here's another link with more info and how it connects to the 3rd edition.

Hope this helps.

You actually get both pieces in this link below (mount and the adapter) for $10 + shipping.

I should mention that I attached the mount to my windshield upside down from what is pictured (thumb screw on the right side) so that the arm extends out into the car a bit further and under my car roof to provide shade. I attach it just to the right of my rear view mirror on the built in window tint (Toyota Camry) so that no one from outside can see the mount. When I arrive @ my desitnation and I'm done with my TT, I take it with me and leave the mount on the windshield with the mount adjusted up and out of the way. No one can see the mount because of the built in window tint. This setup really works for me. :)
