I connect to TTHome (2.2.2.83) every week day with my OLE and have not seen a new GPSFix for at least a week - usually they are downloaded 2-3 times per week. Are others seeing new GPSFix downloads?

I noticed the same thing. Then I used HOME to VIEW THE CONTENTS OF MY ONE. There was no QuickGPSFix installed! Not sure how if got wiped as I have been using it, with updates, for months.

I went into the ADD VOICES, TRAFFIC, ETC --> ITEMS FROM MY COMPUTER and installed an older version of the QuickGPSFix. Just did this yesterday, and haven't seen an update yet, but at least it now shows on my TomTom.

Hmm.....Interesting.

I've been getting Quickfixes regularly; mapshares (for NA 7.10) somewhat sporadically and, like others, absoltely NO poi updates for 6 weeks or so.

Thanks

Thanks Birdman - that did the job. After re-installing I was presented with an update to QuickGPSFix when I went to 'Update my ONE'.

I am curious and wonder if you could check something. I had like 33 different QuickGPSFix updates that I could choose from that had previously been downloaded on my computer. In the TomTom HOME window that had the list of these QuickGPSFixes that you could select, the latest one on the TOP said in red letters that that file could not be installed on my device.

I selected a previous version that didn't have this error and it SEEMED to copy over ok. I also got a quick update after that, but when I removed the TomTom from the computer and then plugged it back in and checked if it still had the QuickGPSFix, it did not. I did this three times and the QuickGPSFix just would not stick!

I had to completely delete EVERY folder and file in the C:\My Documents\TomTom\HOME\Download\ephemeris\ folder. This cleaned out every other QuickGPSFix that was download.

Once I did that, I connected my TomTom to the PC and did an UPDATE MY ONE and it searched on TomTom's server and found the QuickGPSFix and I installed it. It has been fine ever since. The last QuickGPSFix must have been corrupted and I had to take extreme measures to have the update STICK.

Is yours still on your TomTom? Did you see this RED error?

Birdman...

Probably under the category of useless information ...

I have 16 quickfix folders at the present time on my computer. TTHome 'sees' only seven of them. The last 6 I've dl are recognized but what's weird is that there are five folders not listed in TTHome that are dated between the other one Home lists and the first of the last 6 listed.

(none are in red...I have a 720 model)

Not useless at all. Mine actually follows that same pattern. I was actually shocked that the apparent last entry had that RED text stating it couldn't be installed on my device. First thing that popped into my head is that they were messing around with the "device specific" maps coding and somehow messed up the QuickGPSFix to be device specific also and totally broke something that shouldn't have been touched.

If the data was corrupted, then HOME is as bad as Windows for alerting the user to the actual problem --- they could have said data corruption or file damaged, etc.

There are more and more users (especially in the British forum) who have completely given up on Home and won't run it at all except to get map upgrades. Have no confidence in quickfix files anymore (wonder why  ), mapshares are flakey and, of course, no poi's are getting downloaded anymore.

Thanks for the tip Birdman!
I haven't been able to get a quickfix update since 2/18, when I got the map update. I have asked TomTom customer service about it but did not get a reply. I just did like you, deleted the folders, and when I ran HOME I got the latest quickfix.

I posted here: http://tomtomforums.com/showthread.php?t=7910 about a problem I've had with the GPS Quick Fix. Basically after the last few I installed my location was all over the map and not on roads. It took a few minutes to an hour or so before the unit finally figured out where I really was. I wonder if TT is having problems with their GPS Quick Fix and are trying to fix it now, causing the delay?

TTHome shows 6 QuickGPSfix files on my computer. There are actually 14 folders under ephemeris. None of those listed by TTHome have the red warning. I don't recall that any of them had the warning when I re-installed. I'm pretty sure I would have noticed. I chose the bottom of the list which had the highest version number.

I did not experience the loss of QuickGPSfix when dis-connecting. I still have it on my OneLE and update is asking if I want it updated.

i have been unable to get the gps fix-i am NOT sure the US shot down the right satellite?

Got to my documents and delete the downloads folders and from device folders that you will find after you open the tomtom folder, then the home folder. This should let you download Quick GPS Fix. TTH sees what is in the downloads folder to determine which update is needed, when cleared, you will get the latest versions.:D

Tried to Reply

I tried to reply to Birdman but somehow my reply got corrupted.
Basically, I did not see a Red X and my re-installation of QuickGPSfix stayed installed.

That's good news. I have no idea why my files were corrupted, but at least we have a way to work around these QuickGPSFix problems....

Excellent advice. It worked for me!
