my new go720 stopped working so I tried a reinstall and now it doesn't work at all. Iv'e seen several people here with the same problem but never any one with a solution. Even Tom Tom support is NO support. The computer doesn't recognize Tom. and no it's not the reset button. Iv'e tried all Iv'e read here. Is it toast? Did anyone find a solution? Thank you so much for your time to respond. Kat

Does the info at tomtom.com/7375 help?

How do I find that info, ive looked. TY

I copied someone else's post and it is the same problem as mine so I assume it has a solution.

I hope one or some of you may be able to help as I really don't want to get rid of my 4 month old 720.

The problem is that the item has come to a stop.

I will briefly outline what I get with start up whenout of the dock and start up in the dock.

OUT OF DOCK
I switch the item on and get the Tom Tom name and the roll of drums.
The screen then goes to a Green colour and shows the TOm Tom in the top left hand corner and what looks to be a hard drive icon in the bottom right hand corner. I am not able to switch off except by resetting at the bottom with the paperclip.

IN DOCK
When I place the item in the dock and then switch on the item connects to TOM TOM home and on the TOM TOM screen comes the TOM TOM in the hand with a Red cross and also showing an hour gless telling me to please wait.

It stays like this for hours until I remove the item from the dock and then reset it again.

If you have a backup, you can use Windows Explorer to remove all loose files in the root of the unit but NO folders. Now, copy back the loose files from the backup and put them in the root of the unit. Try a pin reset now and see if that helps.

If you have no backup, you can go to tomtom's site directly and download the latest firmware version. It'll come in a compressed file. Unzip the contents and again overwrite the contents of the root of the unit.

If the above doesn't work, I'm afraid you need to return it under warranty.
