Go6000, Go Exclusive that doesn't work properly
My Exclusive is fairly new and is really good, but why is th battery life so very bad?

I can charge it for hours and it's fine for about 5 minutes before it switches itself off! I know that there's a lot going on in there, but I can't understand why the battery life is so rubbish.

It has been replaced when it was only a few months old and that took a fight with TomTom. It just kept on switching itself off at the most impossible times. The battery life on that one was carp as well (I never could spell that word  )

Once you turn on your device.

The device must be kept on a cigarette lighter charger or mains charger at all times otherwise the battery will drain very quickly.

Thank you for your reply. This is exactly what I have found and I find it very strange that it is such a short time. When we stay away anywhere I use a power pack in the hotel/pub room to sort out our next day's travels, but it seems stupid to me that the unit is so power hungry in this day and age.

I suspect what you're experiencing is one of two things:

First, you may be seeing a loss of battery capacity while the device is in 'Sleep' mode overnight. When disconnected from power, or manually told to 'Sleep' after a power button push, the device should be going into a very low power usage mode. For some reason, it does not. When it is awakened from an overnight 'sleep', the battery is often largely discharged, or if left for a day or two, depleted. TomTom was made aware of this quite some time back, and for some reason, doesn't seem to be able to get a handle on it.

Second, if the device has been on a TomTom cigarette charger or decent mains charger (something that claims to deliver 2.4A), then it should hold for at least an hour of operation on a decent battery. HOWEVER, if you've been plugging it into a USB port in your vehicle, it could be that only 500mA of current is made available, which is barely enough to run the device, much less charge it, so there's another possible source of this kind of problem.
