Hi,

I am a bit of a luddite so would appreciate some advice -

I believe you need to pair your phone to get live traffic updates can you do this without having to add a TomTon app by simply pairing it as you would any other device then turning on Bluetooth tethering on my mobile?

Could someone explain briefly how these live traffic updates work using the phone when you are driving.

I only have one month camera updates i am happy to pay the annual subscription but i have read all fixed cameras are already shown and stay after the month is up but new ones are not added, do members recommend an annual subscription or maybe the one month update every few months?

Do you have to update regularly using wi-fi at home or are these camera updates installed automatically when you are driving.

Thanks in advance for any help you can give as i said i am a bit of a luddite but i will get there in the end.

You can connect your phone to your GPS via Bluetooth without needing the MyDrive app.

Without a radar subscription, the speed cameras are automatically deleted at the next map update.

Yes, you need to update the speed cameras for the speed cameras to be installed on the GPS map.

Thanks.

So all the fixed cameras that are showing now will disappear at the end of the first month is i dont subscribe?

Not immediately, the speed cameras will be removed when the new version of the 1120 map is downloaded, scheduled for the end of November.

If your GPS is connected to your phone, you will receive live traffic via your phone's connection to the Tomtom live service.

If not using the MyDrive App on your phone, you can use your phone either as a Bluetooth or WiFi hotspot to supply your Classic with traffic data. I prefer WiFi since it is often a more stable connection.

After much messing about and swearing i decided to ditch Bluetooth as i couldn't get it to connect even when i successfully paired it, i set up a wi-fi hotspot which i have never done before i was amazed how easy it was and the fact it worked i guess the GO Classic uses wi-fi to connect not BT as it does use Wi-fi to update maps etc.
