Hello everyone

I am continually having connection issues with my Tomtom Go Camper Max, and due to it always disconnecting from Traffic and pulling a 8m long caravan, I am not always getting the latest updates while travelling down the road, and it’s really starting to annoy me.

I have tried all the usual turning off, resetting etc on the device itself. As I know it’s not my iPhone 14 Pro Max, my Bluetooth connection to my Bose headphones never ever disconnects. It works occasionally so I know it works, but as mentioned the it keeps disconnecting And the phone is less than a meter away.

Getting really fed up with it to be honest, and has anyone also had these issues with the dreaded Car symbol with an X beside it?

I may as well set up a repair with TomTom.

Hi
This is just a troubleshooting idea to use your phone's Wi-Fi hotspot.
This usually works much better.

Contacted TomTom, and they have said for a better Bluetooth Tethering connection between my device and iPhone 14 Pro Max is to contact my EE provider and ask them to activate APN Settings.

Apparently then I can change as per below:

'Despite performing the previous steps, if Traffic is still not displaying on your TomTom device, it may be due to the use of IPv6 APN on your smartphone. To address this, please follow the steps below to use IPv4 APNs on your smartphone to share data connection'

'I apologize for the inconvenience you have experienced with pairing your smartphone to your TomTom device. The error appears due to security update of the smartphone security, which auto-disconnects the Bluetooth when idle. Hence, we need stronger connectivity, which can be achieved by Bluetooth tethering'

Anyone tried this or is this just me jumping through Tomtom hoops

I am on the phone to EE at the moment, I can see APN settings on my iPad but not on my iPhone.

I'm with Willy on this. Bluetooth is just too fiddly, especially between the Apple and TomTom stacks, and has been for a long time now. WiFi is a much simpler and more reliable tethering solution.
