After the latest update my GO 930 just loops when I try and use the European map off the SD card (this is the one which was updated). 32GB SDHC card which was working until the update.
If I remove the SD card then it will start and offer me New Zealand and North America.
If I replace the SD card and ask to change maps it offers me Europe as well as NZ and NA.
[I just checked and it doesn't offer that option without the SD card.]
With Europe selected it goes into a continuous restart loop and will not power off.
I have connected it to my PC and I can see both internal and external drives.
I have checked them both using Windows and there are no errors reported.
With the SD card in, TomTom Home crashes when I try to operate my device.
With the SD card out, TomTom Home works O.K.
Conclusion: there is some kind of problem which crashes the software when trying to open the European maps and it is probably file corruption.
This seems a bit different from the problems (sometimes cure by deleting a config file) where you can operate the device via Home but not on its own.
Has anyone had this particular variant?
Is there any specific first step to take?
What would the system do if I just inserted a different blank SD card?
Would it try and restore a backup copy?
I could move the NZ and NA maps off the device and onto the computer only, then shift the EU maps into internal memory, but this could perhaps just make things worse, although I do have a full backup of internal and external memory to folders in my Windows PC.
Any help most welcome!
Update #1 - I deleted the MapSettings.cfg file and this has changed the behaviour - it now gets as far as the "Welcome" screen but when I click "I agree" it then loops, eventually getting back to the Welcome screen. So file corruption seems pretty certain, and more than one file.
