Glad to see another recent review! Funny as gpsreview was the place that got me sold on the XL-S. As for the 930, I would still go with the 720/920 at the moment considering its now reduced price. Judging from the poor quality of the latest map of my local area, I doubt the 930 v8 maps would be discernably better. I just hope that by September, the maps should reflect the bulk of MapShare major updates. My reasoning is that MapShare contributions takes a while to be analysed by TeleAtlas and implemented into the maps, then it takes Tomtom another 3 months, from TeleAtlas map release to Tomtom, to make the maps available to users. We have no idea of the size of MapShare backlog TeleAtlas has but I assume they do have a large one. Tomtom also needs traffic information for its IQ routing and feed it to the maps. Since the x30 models have the same hardware as the x20, particularly the memory size, I don't expect the present traffic information to be very large nor the lane information. I expect the coverage could be good for certain cities but questionable for others.

IOW, I would advise someone to try it for a while before to see if the expectancies are met. If one could try it for a week and be able to return it in case the features are not met it would be great. Not many shops allow this.
