I posted this to tech support. Anyone experiencing similiar problems?

I?ve had difficulty frequently connecting my Go 910 to my computer. I?ve tried everything that I can think of. The 910 always displays in device manager as an unknown device. I?ve attempted moving the cable to another USB slot, with no success. I?ve deleted the device and Windows discovers the new hardware as an unknown device no matter which USB port I connect the device. Any suggestions on how I can get my device connected to my computer?

Hello and welcome!
sorry to hear about your frustration.

When your computer says "unknown device", can you look explore the files on the unit?
If this is a problem, Im sure HOME doesn't recognize it, or does it?

910 USB problems

Yes - my post has gotten lost in the chatter. I have returned my 910 with RMA to TomTom. It was also crashing computer - took out a mother board. Tried two different docking stations, and 4 different computers - it was dead as a recognized device . happened after updating to 6.24. Cannot do restore with it recognized as a device.

I am using borrowed 510 - no problem connecting. I was told my problem was unique - then read your post on a 910. I think it may be hardware related to non-standard USB electronics performance in the unit. you may be better served by swapping it out. Also, do not post to support by email - usually waste of time - call the service number.

Pedro - when it is not recognized, it is invisible to the system, no way to access it at all. At the same time, the unit functioned ok otherwise - tripmaster and all

Sorry to hear about this GAW.

My 910 is also might be go to TomTom. my unit goes to the white and green screen with the unit image on it. The image is if the unit was connect to HOME. No matter if I reset the device, install a new firmwire or clear the flash, it will go to that screen in a matter of minutes. :(

When connected to my vista computer, it got past the "unrecognized device" pop up, but the unit was locked on the same screen (which it normally would be when connected I believe), but the TT was not visible on the system as a device.

When I disconnected the USB cable, the TT would then start up and operate OK. Plug in the USB, it would ask if I wanted to connect with the computer. Click yes, back to the screen above and nothing visible on the computer,

On other computers, it would then give the unrecognized device message.

What I am now concerned about is TT might point the finger at tripmaster being installed. Would like to hear your and others thoughts on this.

I believe you have tripmaster and other apps installed also. At least it appears you can get at it - maybe restore an older version and see if it clears up.

Thanks all for he feedback. It sounds like I must return my device fro repair. I have tried everything to my knowledge including reset with no success.

Sorry to hear this. My unit isn't working properly. I have to send it for repair too. I just waiting for an RMA #/

910 USB problems again

I hate to post this but my USB problem has returned. I cannot get my unit to connect to my computer. After my original message TomTom identified the problem as a defective usb cradle and sent me a new one. For the last month or so the problem has returned and I know longer can get my device to connect to my computer. I've read some post that there may be some compatibility issues with dual core processors and Windows XP Pro. Anyone heard of similar issues?

Though I like the 910 after my experience I'm hesitant to purchase another. Garmin or Telanav will probably be my next investment. Too many issues with this device.

Have same/similar problem with Brand New TTG720 (2nd one). Call support but couldn't help. Gave me RMA# but I'd rather return to the store and get different brand... too many problems and no solutions.
