Hi, I am new to this forum and also to Tomtom, I have purchased a used GO 910, as we are visiting the USA, in December, and will be doing a lot of driving so bought this unit as it states that it has USA and Canada are installed.

My question is, can you only view these maps when you are in that country, as I can't access them on the unit.

Thanks

Brian

Go to change Preferences/ Manage Maps/ Switch map and the device will present a list of whats installed, is the North America map presented for selection or not? - if you do select it make sure you switch maps for use while still in the UK - Mike

Mike, thanks for that, all good and working.
Thanks for your swift response.

When you get to the USA you can either switch maps in the way mentioned above or wait until the device gets a GPS position fix when it should offer the North American map as a more suitable product for your current location. Be aware that travelling across the Atlantic will make the TomTom take longer to acquire the GPS fix once you get off the plane, stay stationary until its got a location fix before you try using the device (shouldn't take more than a few minutes - 12 at the very most) - Mike

Thanks Mike, another question, the box my 910 came in had everything apart from the cd, is this required? and can it be obtained anywhere if it is.
Regards.
Brian

There never was a CD or DVD provided with the 910, you have to make your own backup which I would suggest you do by copying everything from the device to your computer using Windows Explorer, don't rely on TomTom Home to make a reliable backup with the 910 as it used to mess up the LoquendoTTS folder (all 4GB of it) - Mike
