Your unit can't see the operating software on your SD card. Fixable providing we can find a map somewhere for your device on your PC, or if we get really lucky, on your SD card.

To be sure, you'll want to put the SD card into a card reader for your PC, but at a minimum, you can connect your unit to your PC, ignore Home altogether, and advise as to what your PC sees when you view your TomTom as though it were a disk drive. There should be files and folders visible on it. In particular, you need to look for a folder with the map content ... something with the words North America or Canada or similar.

If we can't find a map there, we'll have to search your PC.

Have you EVER made a backup of your unit to your PC?

Yes I did a backup just recently. I connect to see what I can locate. Probably in the morning. Thks.

That's really good news (the backup). Did you use Home or Windows to make that backup?

I did the backup and restore with Tomtom software that came up when I plugged in the unit. But I did try to find a map file but no luck.

If you connect to Home, Manage my Device-->Items on Device-->Maps., what does it say?

If you click on the Items on Items on Computer-->Maps, what does it say?

OK - when I just went on Home, Manage my Device, Items on Device, Maps, it says 2
4.4MB .... check box blank
I have not clicked on +Maps
Ken

Then I guess you indeed are missing the maps (other than Guam & CI). You'll need to repurchase them using Home.

Ok --- thanks dhn. I really appreciate the time and the assistance you provided.
Regards
Ken

Let's assume just for a brief moment that Home is misreporting the content of the backup. Hell, if it can screw up a backup, it can screw up what it reports, right?

Keep your fingers crossed.

Navigate to My Documents\TomTom\HOME\Backup\GO\Backup01
That should be where TomTom has placed your backup data. Do you see a North America folder (or similar) anywhere in there?

Been looking hard for something similar to North American folder following your suggestion. Get to Back01 and that is it. Oh well ..
Ken

Is there anything at all inside that Backup01 folder? If so, that would indicate that you have a previous backup of your unit, and we can retrieve the map from that if necessary.

backup01

Hopefully this attachment of the backup01 folder is readable.

Not seeing anything here yet.

What are you trying to attach? A picture of the folder contents (eg a screen grab from your PC) or the whole folder itself? The second one won't work as it's too big for the forum system.

Rather then trying to attach a picture, you could just make a list of the files and folders you can see in that backup folder.

Rather than typing them all out laboriously by hand, there are lots of little PC utilities that will produce a list for you.
Have a look at this FAQ for some ideas.
How to list the folders and files on your TomTom or PC and post them here

From a DOS box, you could go to the directory that contains the files and folders, and type

DIR > MYSTUFF.TXT

and copy and paste the text from MYSTUFF.TXT into a message here. We should be able to spot what we need that way .. if it's there.
