My 910 freezes almost every day when I plug into cigarette lighter outlet and have to reset it from the back. It is annoying as sometimes I dont have a paper clip. Any idea?
Could the car charger be faulty in that the contact isn't tight when the unit is attached? I know that used to be an issue with many 910's, a loose connection.....
Maybe the full power signal is not getting through to the unit. Other than that, don't know what to suggest other than making sure you do have something available to reset the unit.
Find somebody who knits and she (he) will likely have a bunch of T-pins. Looks like the following:
Try this:
- Backup everything per this link
- Format the drive with quickformat disabled (if you get bad sectors, then that may be the culprit)
- Copy back your LoquendoTTS folder, and your map folder ("USA_and_Canada", I think) from the Backup
- Disconnect and turn on the Tomtom until you see a red X
- Reconnect to Tomtom HOME, and then run "Update my GO" repeatedly until you get app 7.903
Please don't delete any chk files in the root of any TomTom as these contain the sounds the device uses for warnings for over speed/ POI's etc, if you delete a .chk file the device won't boot. The voices folder contains around 70 .chk files, these are the navigation voices and whilst removing these won't prevent the device from booting it will silence it.
Windows seems .chk files as lost segments of a drive but Linux (which is what your TomTom is based upon) actually uses .chk - Mike
