What kind of computer? Did you install the TomTom Home software?

Your 740 should show up as an external hard drive. Check again to see whether it appears as such when you connect. What operating system are you running?

Had that problem on my new 740TM Live and could confirm that my Go would charge using the desktop base, but computer would not see the GPS.

You can confirm the problem by putting your TT in the mobile base and attaching via USB/Mini USB to your computer. If your computer recognizes the TT 740, then for sure it's the home base unit.

Simple call to TT Tech Support to confirm problem and they passed me off to a second level support, who had a new base sent me at no cost. Two days later, all was good.
