GO 740 active window mount problem

I have had my GO 740 for less than 6 months and noticed my power connection was defective. I started to clean it and found that the copper pads were bad. I am looking for a replacement window mount and cigar lighter plug in. Ebay has them for $50-$60 but i can buy a new unit for almost that much. Anybody have a bad GPS but retained the mount and cords? If anyone has the wiring diagram of the active window mount, I can attempt to rewire it.

Given the length of time you have had your unit, if purchased new, you should be able to obtain a replacement directly from TomTom under warranty. They were also offering them for sale a while back ... lemme look again ...

The web site 'accessories' section appears to be a bit goofed up. I'd call TomTom directly to see if there's a warranty option. I know that when I bought my spare, they were no where near $50 a pop.

Forgot to add - you can buy the 'fixed mount' style if the window mount just isn't anywhere to be found, and disassemble and replace the bits so that the new mount has the old suction assembly on it.

Part number

I called TomTom today and Ivan told me nothing would work...I was wondering the same thing as you. Do you have a part number of the fixed mount? It must have the mini USB on the back of the mount.
Thanks

Why did you let Ivan at TomTom get away with saying nothing would work?? The unit MUST still be under warranty if it' only 6 months old.

Anyway...
On the UK website the fixed installation mount is here:
http://www.tomtom.com/en_gb/product...ers-docks/active-dock-for-fixed-installation/

Or the normal windscreen dock (including charger) is here:
http://www.tomtom.com/en_gb/products/accessories/mounts-holders-docks/active-dock-mount-kit/

Or there's the mount with built in RDS-TMC here:
http://www.tomtom.com/en_gb/product...ctive-dock-traffic-rds-tmc-with-ipod-support/
(That probably won't work in the US though)

Do you know anyone in the UK who could buy one and send it to you?

Agreed. To reiterate the comment above...

Tell "Ivan" (or whatever his name turns out to be on your NEXT call to tech support) that you expect them to take care of warranty issues.
