Just bought a Garmin 265WT and it works ok but I tried a friends TT XL and it really seems to give better routes and overall the features that are automatic on the TT you have to reset every time on the Garmin. Also the Garmin voices are terrible when they speak the street names. So I ordered a Go 630 but have a few questions. First one..where can I download a copy of the manual ? I checked TT's website but they dont have the 630 listed. Second is regarding the status bar. I know you can move it to the side but can you remove it all together if you want ? Thats one thing I like about the Garmin. Because there is nothing on the main screen except 2 small buttons, the display is larger. Last thing is regarding repairs. I know there is a 1 year warranty but what about AFTER the warranty ? While reading up Ive found that TT will not fix an out of warranty unit even for a fee..Is this still the case?

I suppose you could download the 730 manual. Many of the features are the same.

The status bar can't be removed completely, but the fewer items you show, the bar is somewhat narrower.

Good question about after warranty repairs. There are some on-line sites that do gps repair work.

Thank you for the help. I will check out the 730 manual at least to get an idea of howto set things up.

The after warranty repair is a BIG concern...Although I think overall I may like the TT's performance better than my Garmin, the lack of customer support may change my mind.

There is an unsubstantiated rumour that there may be new information coming about TomTom & after warranty repairs. But, for now .... nothing.

Interesting....That would make sense for them. Im sure they would gain more customers and possible get some back! Im anxious to try the 630 and compare it to the 265WT

You can get the proper manual by running TomTom Home and on the second page select "Read the manual for my device". Just right click on the language you want and download the pdf file. Here is the link if you don't have TomTom Home installed yet. TomTom Go x30 manual

TomTom sucks!

While reading up Ive found that TT will not fix an out of warranty unit even for a fee..Is this still the case?

YES this is still the case. They do not repair anything. I have a broken tomtom I have been trying to have repaired for a few weeks now. Looks like I have to ship it to the UK for repair. TT won't do anything. They won't repair, they don't have any shops to repair, they tell you to go do a search to find a repair shop. They are useless. A glorified paperweight and money down the drain. Like I can do *that* in *this* economy! Will never buy TT again. Looking for a garmin or magellan or....? Very angry with TT!!
