ONE XL & GO 740 LIVE
Hi Everyone,

I didn't see a specific sub category for the Go 630 so I hope I'm posting this in the appropriate forum.

Last week I got a new Go 630 after continuously running into problems with the ONE XL I had previously.

The problem I had with my ONE XL was the following.

Every once in a while the unit would just reboot by itself and then turn on automatically after shutting it down. Whenever this happened data would no longer be pulled through my Blackberry 8320. Sometimes it took soft resetting the unit 10 to 15 times before it would work again. I tried everything from flashing the ONE XL to reinstalling everything but eventually the same problem would appear again.

This is especially annoying because my traffic notifications no longer work when this happens and I heavily rely on this feature during my morning and afternoon commute in the Chicago area.

Finally I got so frustrated with it that I replaced the ONE XL with the Go 630. I've had it for less than a week and now I'm starting to see the same problem happen to the Go 630. I've searched everywhere but was unable to find a solution to this problem.

The Go 630 hast the latest version installed.

Would anyone have any idea what the problem could be? Is it my phone? How could it be that the same problem appears in two different units?

I'm getting to the point where I'm contemplating replacing my TomTom with a GPS from another manufacturer.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Andy

Make sure you clear any routes upon arrival. Also, do a reset on the unit while it is powered down because resetting the unit actually turns it off; powering down really just puts it in a hibernation state.

After resetting and flashing the unit several times, as well as repairing it with my blackberry, rerunning the data setup and resetting the blackberry I finally got it to work again.

The Go 630 now "shuts down" without restarting by itself and I get data service again.

Now, this happened quite frequently with my ONE XL. This was the first time it happened with the GO, which I've had since last Thursday.

Could this really be due to not clearing the route? I have to admit, I hardly ever cleared the route in the past but I will make sure to do so from now on.

I was just hoping this was an isolated problem with the ONE XL, however, it appears that's not the case.

Thanks for the tip dhn. Should I shut down the unit by resetting it while it is powered off, frequently or only when I experience problems?

There are some who are proponents of doing a reset on their units every time they turn the unit off. Something like those that never turn their computers off find things work better when they actually do a reboot. That's what a reset is.

Makes sense. What I like about the GO compared to the ONE XL is the fact that the "reset hole" is slightly larger, allowing the use of a pen instead of a paper clip.

Either way, I am now experiencing another problem. After I got the GO working again last night and after making sure traffic worked, I downloaded TomTom's Fuel Price service. After installing it on the TomTom I no longer get traffic updates, nor can I access the weather. The funny thing is that a data exchange is taking place, which I can tell by the two little arrows in the top right hand side of my blackberry screen.

I have tried everything...

Any suggestions with this problem? I've never seen this before.
