Does anyone know what kind of mobile connection the Go 6200 uses? 2g? 3g? I'm wondering how long it will continue to get live traffic data, with networks being switched off.
I assume that the newer models use 4g but I can't find any information in the online shop.

2G.

If you take it across the channel, it's a country by country question, but the UK has one of the longest shutdown schedules. You could be good for a long while. Shutdown isn't required until 2033. Vodaphone, the carrier I believe TT is using, hasn't announced a shutdown date yet.

No, 'newer models' don't use cellular at all. They use your phone to act as a relay (via Bluetooth or WiFi) for traffic and other online data. Hang on to your 6200!

All TomTom devices doing cellular have all been 2G since the beginning, with the exception of some of the TomTom Bridge units that were 2G/3G.

I'm in France now, and it isn't getting traffic data. I'm not entirely surprised they stopped putting mobile data in the device, but it would be kind of annoying to have to connect whatever mobile the driver is using, as mum isn't very proficient with hers.
Thanks for your help.

Once your phone is connected to your GPS, you don't have to worry about it again.

Hello,
Here in Belgium they started from the beginning of September to phase out 2G/3G. Everyone is referred to 4G/5G.
