Hi

a friend has a GO520 it boots up and locks on to the satalites as normal but after 20 to 30 minutes it starts to flick through all the option screens one after another constantly.

No matter what you do it wont settle down.

I reset it for him but still doing the same thing.

Any ideas please?

First thing to check is whether a little dirt has gotten under the bezel. Slide the sharp edge of a business card slowly around the perimeter of the glass and see if that helps.

That 20/30 minutes lag worries me, dhn. Heat? May require additional measures. Guess we'll see.

Thanks.

I will try that and see what happens.

Watch this space!

No, that did not work, close examination of the whole screen area did not show any foreign objects on the screen.

Was afraid of that.....

Lately (the last year or so), forums have been flooded with complaints on similar devices about phantom keystrokes. General thinking is that perhaps heat is warping the frame somewhat, causing pressure on the glass.

As canderson opined, that may be the issue here as well.

Try keeping the device out of the direct sun, if possible. Some have reported success by holding the device in two hands and gently applying some pressure on the ends with the glass facing the user.

Yep, that seems to be the problem.

Thanks guys for all your help.
