Here is a puzzling one. My TT 2505 when connected to the pc also indicated that it was connected. Even when I went to the TT site. Now ever since an update was available it won't connect. I have changed nothing to any settings. Anyone else have this issue?
Thank you for your time

Hold the power button on the Tomtom until you hear the drum roll, then try connecting again.

Well MVL, it's a no go. Turned the TT on and kept holding the button until I heard the drum roll. It told me to go to tomtom.com/getstarted. I know the pc is recognizing the tt because I get that double beat drum when I plug the cable in or out. I also noticed that when I do pull it in the IE opens and shows the web page for a second and then goes blank.

:confused::confused:

First make sure you have the latest version of IE, java, javascript, and flash installed. Also, make sure you have no software (eg: flash-blocking utilities) that are blocking the tomtom.com website.

If the above doesn't help, try resetting MyTomtom:
- click on the myTomtom application, and go to settings-> cache, and click "empty cache", then "save settings"
- click on the myTomtom application, hold shift and click "Close", then "Exit"
- open the folder %UserProfile%\Local Settings\Application Data\Tomtom
- delete the Home 3 subfolder within that folder
- restart MyTomtom from the Start Menu, and see if it now recognizes the GO 2505.

Did all updates. Even updated SP1 for Win7. The pc detects the tt it's the software that doesn't. I reinstalled Home3 with no luck. When I click on the TT icon in the bottom left and select and selecy MyTomTom it takes me to the web page but the site doesn't detect the unit. I tried my laptop and the same issue. I'll try writing to TT support and see what they say.

Gotta ask.

You DO have Adobe Flash installed on the computer, do you not? It'll never show 'detected' unless you do.

One other thing, my unit is telling me to connect to my computer. That I have to go to tomtom.com/getstarted. My unit is connected.

MarkZeds:

Has anything changed with your firewall (upgrade, update, new software). Because of the way the 2505 connects (it creates a new network adapter) some firewalls won't permit connection. Try turning your firewall off and connecting. If it connects without firewall, talk to your virus/firewall application support. It is a funny way to do it. TomTom changed to this way to make it ???better???. The old way was worse. You'll have better luck getting your virus app provider to change than TomTom:eek:

Mark Zeds (or anyone else with this issue....)

If you get the grey MyTT icon with red "x" in the desktop

1. Go to Start menu/Settings/Network connections.
2. You should see your normal Local area connection and a second entry called "Local Area Connection 2", (or any other number) for the TomTom.
3. Click on that to open a "status" window (which will still be saying "connected").
4. Click on the "Disable" button.
5. The MyTT icon should go back to normal (red hands) and the MyTT pop-up will say the Go is disconnected.
6. Go back to Start menu/Settings/Network connections and click on "Local Area Connection 2" again.
7. That should automatically re-enable the connection (pop up window says "enabling...")
8. Once that is done, MyTT should re-connect to the Go and the icon remain as red hands.

10 minutes later you may lose it again.....
