550
Hi all. Been using the Rider 550 and Mydrive app to plan routes for several years now. I notice on numerous ocassions when out on a motorcycle trip the Rider willy nilly on its own deviates from the planned route. Doing some research from others who have experienced this is to use a program to create Waypoints to keep you on the route and not saved as Track..

I noticed on the new MyDrive do can send stops where it is sent as route with the Waypoints. When I save and sync, its actually saved as a Track with no Waypoints back to how it was saved before.

Can anyone shed some light on why the Rider 550 deviates on its own and best teps to create a route that the Rider will adhere to while on the road.

Thanks

I am having a similar problem. I do not like tracks as when you are on a ride you cannot "skip the next stop". Say there is a road closure and you know how to get around it but TomTom keeps insisting you go back. With the new version of MyDrive I cannot send stops to the unit, just tracks. If you can I can't find it. If I use help it sends me to a page to buy stuff. No help. Support has always been poor. I bought a Garmin but their mapping program drove me nuts so I keep using the TomTom but this stuff is bad. Especially when it is easy with Google Maps.

Go here and read post number 11
"You can "Send Stops" to the device which will then be an .itn route on your device.
Once you have imported the .gpx to the new planner, click on the route and then click "Edit"
You then get two choices Description or Route, choose Route. Click on "Save as New" then click cancel on the pop up box, you will now see the "Export" function click Export and "Send Stops to Device"
The limit is still 20 stops, Et voila"

Thank You. That works. Why is it so convoluted compared the before when it was an option and you just clicked it? Somebody "Found a better way."

I have found that it is common for the 550 to choose a slightly or wildly different route compared to MyDrive. I guess it just uses a different algorithm. I know in the past I have sent just the stops after carefully laying out a route with waypoints to make it go where I wanted then the 550 changed the route.

Thanks for the replies. Gave this a try, will see how it works out. Riding season upon us.

You must make sure the route settings are the same on the route planner and the device, for example, avoid motorways, unpaved roads etc: Then the routes should be more or less the same.
If there is a difference zoom right in on the route planner and look for road closures.
