Free Space on TomTom Go 510

Anyone know how much free space is left on the 1 GB SD card that is included with the Go 510 when it is sold in the US? Trying to decide whether or not I need to go ahead and order a 2 GB SD Card.

Mine had about 30mbytes left with the US_and_Canada Maps + Guam loaded on it from the factory.

I upgraded to a 2 gig because the 2 gigs are cheap now ~$19 and I wanted to load up on POIs like Dunkin Donuts, McDonalds, add voices, etc. When the new maps come out, I'm considering getting the larger North_America map as well.

In the end, no real good reason, but I can always use the 2 gig card for my digital camera so there was no harm in getting the new card.

Sometimes TomTom nead to write temporary files onto the SD card. Fill it to the brim, you invite troubles (not boot up, crashes ...). Come on a 2G card is cheap.

When you dock it to your computer and start home tells you space free in upper right hand corner varies depending on voices pois and stuff you install.This week Office Depot has 2 gig sd cards 19.00usd advertised in Sunday paper.Back up old cards unbackup to new card and tada. Just make sure you have directory set to show hidden files...Sammy

You can also use 4GB cards if you make sure they are NOT SDHC. Plain old SD works. I have a TopRam 150X 4GB SD in mine that I picked up on eBay for less than $50. Works great. Lots of room for videos and mp3s.

Transcend 4G 150X (regular) also works well.
