Final Destination

I got my Tom Tom XXL540S right before a 33 day vacation. I had an old Garmin before this one. I really like MANY things about the Tom Tom but it never got me to my final destination! Even though I enter the house numbers on my address, they never show up on my screen or is announced. The Garmin would tell me if the destination is on the left or right but the Tom Tom doesn't. In the Black Hills it told me I had arrived at my destination and I finally found it 1/2 mile further. Is this normal??
